About Us

Hey there, and welcome! If you’ve got board games on the mind, you probably landed in the right spot.

Rolling In The Meep is mainly the work of a guy named Dan – though, it goes without saying that a hearty “thank you” is owed to far too many other sites and publications to count that help stay him stay on top of the latest and greatest happenings in the industry.

When we aren’t playing games, we are certainly thinking about them. The goal here is simple: to playtest and review anything that comes to mind. Whether it be a longstanding classic, or the latest and greatest game about to hit Kickstarter. We have a particular fondness for light to medium weight games, and also titles that offer a Solo play option, but really – this is just about the love of getting that next game onto the table for another round.

(And now, a little bit of ethics…)

There is only one goal here – to get you the highest quality reviews that represent our real opinion on the board game in question. So here is what we do, that will hopefully help instill some trust in what we post:

  1. Consider it a promise that we will ALWAYS let you know who paid for the game. Whether it is a self-funded purchase (and that happens way more often than our bank accounts would prefer), or the copy was provided for review by a designer/publisher, we will very clearly disclose this to you in the review, with no exceptions.
  2. Even in cases where a review copy is provided free of charge, you will still be reading our unbiased opinion of the game. We wouldn’t want to seek out a review that was just a cleverly-disguised paid advertisement, and we doubt you would either.
  3. Furthermore, whether a copy is provided free of charge or not, you will be reading OUR words on the game – publishers will not be allowed to edit, filter, or veto the review content. If a designer/publisher ever wants a PREVIEW shown of a game with any of their own descriptions mentioned, it will be very clearly labelled as such.
  4. The main goal here is to enjoy the fun of tabletop gaming, and spread that joy to others as much as possible. It’s not to churn out 50 reviews a day on games that we’ve barely touched. Games will be played multiple times before review, different player counts will be attempted, different strategies analyzed. Sometimes a game is great with 2 people and terrible with 4, or vice versa. We aim to figure that out, and the only way to do it properly is to thoroughly review by playing multiple times. Quality over quantity, people!
  5. Have fun, and don’t be a jerk. We are always happy to debate our opinions, answer questions, and generally discuss anything about board games. Our view may not always agree with yours, and that’s OK! Let’s talk about it. Just keep it civil; we aim to do the same.
